President's Message

Every four years, the world comes together to watch the best soccer players compete against each other in the World Cup. This year’s edition has already featured some outstanding play from many countries – expected and unexpected. Soccer is truly the world’s game.

Each year at this time, our club begins the ramp-up into the traditional soccer season. Our Premier clubs have completed their tryouts and many have competed in spring competitions and tournaments. Our House leagues (Recreational and Junior Shamrock) will shortly form teams and begin practices.

As we approach this seasonal year, our club has never been more healthy in terms of program offerings. We recently hosted a clinic put on the by the women’s professional Gold Pride team. We are offering a variety of camps and clinics within Dublin for players of all skill abilities. We will also be offering various coaching and referee education opportunities over the summer. In conjunction with Velocity Sports Performance, the club will be providing speed development training for our Premier players.

However, this season also presents some challenges. Due to job relocation and retirement, we have multiple Board positions open. We have restructured the referee program in order to better serve the membership. And, we face the challenge that many of our neighboring clubs face in regards to the economic environment.

I think we as a club have a great opportunity this year to continue the progress that has been made over the last 2 years and to continue the growth both in size and quality of our programs.

I hope you enjoy this edition of the newsletter. Please feel free to send me comments, questions, or concerns at pres@dublinsoccer.org.

Yours in soccer,

Scott Schoenthal
Dublin United Club President
