Dublin High School varsity update

January 11th, 2010

The Dublin High School men’s and women’s varsity soccer teams completed the first half of their respective Diablo Foothill Athletic League (DFAL) seasons with wins against Alhambra on Friday January 8.

The Men’s team directed by fourth-year coach James Fulwiler is having an outstanding year. The team is currently 14-2-0 (5-1-0 DFAL) and in 1st place in DFAL. Led by senior captains Cody Hoster, Nico Portugal, and Jamie Somerville, the Gaels have notched impressive wins against Acalanes (1-0), Livermore (3-1), Alhambra (4-0), and Dougherty Valley (2-0). The team has its sights set on a league championship and North Coast Sectionals (NCS).

The Women’s team is coached by Mike Baker, in his first season at the helm after having coached the JV Women’s team in 2006-2008 and serving on the Men’s staff in 2008-2009. The Lady Gaels have been steadily improving through the year with a recent tie against Dougherty Valley (2-2) and victory over Alhambra (2-0).

Both the Men’s and Women’s teams include many current and former Dublin United players as well as coaches and staff. The club is proud of the accomplishments of its players and of the collaborative relationship between Dublin High School and Dublin United Soccer. We are looking forward to continued success of our high school teams in the second half of their seasons.

Go Gaels!
